Transpartisanship? What Kinda Ship Is THAT??

Last year I posted a link to a (then) new site I really liked, called the Transpartisanship Alliance. Here’s my original post on that. But since a reader kindly (???) commented about it (noticing that I didn’t say much about what inspired me about it ~ and that’s true) I decided it’s time to revisit this and say more.

Another feel-great video

Hey, I found another really heart-warming video for you to watch. This one is a short vid, one of the best entries at the Cannes Film Festival. It’s Spanish, but there isn’t much talking. Watch especially the English translation near the end ~ it’s worth the whole film! After you watch it. . .

Big Doings This Week

Well, let’s see here. The U.S. Congress is on the verge of a multi-billion dollar bank bailout, hoping to prevent the entire collapse of the global monetary system; the Chinese just completed their first space-walk with their own astronauts; the Hadron Collider is off track for its first collision (and depending on who’s keeping track, that might be a good thing); and oh yes, Mercury is retrograde again.

Sounds like a full week to me! But what does it all mean?

Help Stop Teen Suicides

There is an internet guy I know, Ken McArthur, who is standing in a circus tent today
asking 2,000 people to spread a message of hope to teenagers who
don’t think that life is worth living.

I think it’s a great message of hope for anyone and would love to
see all of my readers think about spreading it today.

Here’s Ken’s simple message for for giving hope (and maybe saving
someone’s life!):

G – Greet and meet: talk to others, smile, say hello, ask
someone how they are doing

I - Involve yourself and others: find a cause you can support,
volunteer, pledge resources. Get the people around you
involved, especially if you see someone beginning to
withdraw. Invite them to participate in some activity, to
“get out” of their comfort zone

V – Validate others: tell others that they matter – especially
family members and friends that you tend to see daily but
may take for granted, give genuine complements

E – Empathize: be a listening ear, take time to be fully
present, don’t try to solve – just acknowledge someone’s
feeling/hurt

You can find out more about Ken’s wonderful project with his
Impact Action Team at:

Stop Teen Suicides Now!

Spread this message today! We already know how hard it is for Indigo teens — but it’s hard for other teens, too. We can help. Take action!

And if you send it on let me know how many you sent it to!

All the best,

Nancy Boyd

Hurricane Ike Aftermath

That was one big storm system for sure! While I suppose no one is happy with the damage and loss of life that resulted, readers of this blog can know one thing for certain (and it’s no small comfort, this. . . ): it could have been so much worse, without the work we did.

Here’s why.

Messing With Mother Nature ~ Again

This week as we got new reports about the Hadron Collider experiment underway in Switzerland, I couldn’t help but wonder if this enormously expensive project is really worth it. Obviously, many scientists and nations seem to think so.

But, what is the true cost of this project?
